Getting started 10

How does I Need to Call My Mother work?

We turn your family's stories, photographs and recordings into a memory book. Authorized audio recordings can also become voice excerpts you can hear through the book's QR codes.

You choose the content, take part in the review and approve the final files. Your project can become a printed book or a digital edition, depending on the option you purchase.

Can I make a book about someone other than my mother?

Yes, but the first project on this site is your mother’s book. After that payment is confirmed, the same family may start a second book — a father, yourself, or another loved one — with 10% off the base price only.

Each book needs its own permissions. Paying for your mother’s book does not authorize recording a father. The 10% does not apply to reprints, Volume 2 of the same mother’s book, page blocks, extra copies, shipping, tax, audio, or extra illustration generations. It does not stack with the extra-copy discount.

How do I get started?

Start with the free preview. The full project organizes up to 10 chapters. Each chapter may have a family photograph, an approved illustration, or the account only (and the QR, if there is a recording).

When purchases become available, choose your book settings and review the offer. Preparation begins after payment is confirmed and you specifically authorize us to start. The base price includes up to 120 pages; any extra page blocks need your approval. You approve the cover and interior separately before printing.

AI illustration is optional and limited, and only goes into the PDF after approval.

Link to this answer
What can I do in the free preview?

You can try arranging your book in the browser and add up to five photos using the local tools on your device.

The preview does not place an order or start printing or paid online processing. Save your draft and original files: work stored only in your browser may be lost if you clear its data or change devices.

Link to this answer
Can my mother take part if she is not confident with technology?

A family member can organize the project and help her along the way. Her personal link opens in a browser, so she does not need an organizer account.

To record, her device needs an internet connection and microphone permission. You can sit with her and help at each step, respecting her pace and her choice to participate.

Link to this answer
Do I need to download an app? Who needs an account?

You access the project in a browser. The organizer uses the sign-in option provided on the site; the person being interviewed joins through their own link without an organizer account.

Use the access provided for each participant and keep your password private. Inviting relatives does not require sharing the organizer's account.

Link to this answer
Which languages can I choose?

The site is available in Portuguese, English and Spanish. You choose the language of your book in the project settings.

Check names, family expressions and translations during review. A bilingual edition or a full book translation is included only when it is expressly listed in your offer.

Link to this answer
Will the service be available in Brazil and the United States?

Yes. These are our planned markets. Printed-book delivery depends on whether the quote supports your address and chosen book configuration.

Check availability, shipping and delivery time before paying. Where import charges apply, the customer pays all applicable import costs, taxes, duties and fees; these are not part of the base price. This responsibility will be disclosed before purchase. Ask Help about other destinations.

Link to this answer
Are purchases open yet?

Purchases are currently closed. You can explore the preview, but a price estimate or saved cart does not confirm an order.

When sales open, you will be able to review the full terms before paying. Your order confirmation will identify the product, amount and payment status.

How long does the family have to send in the stories?

You have 90 calendar days from confirmed payment and authorization to begin preparation. You can request two free extensions of 30 days each with one click. The family then has 21 calendar days to review the text.

We send reminders 30, 14, 7 and 1 day before the materials deadline. If both extensions end without progress, the project pauses and the files are kept. The delivery period of up to 60 days starts only after final approvals, signed authorizations and payment of any amount due.

Link to this answer

Deadlines and calendar 4

What are the stages and deadlines before the book arrives?

The schedule allows 90 days to send materials, two free 30-day extensions, 21 days to review the text, 14 days to approve the cover and 14 days to approve the interior. All are calendar days. Delivery takes up to 60 days after both cover and interior are approved, the required authorizations are signed and any amount due is paid.

  1. Materials: the 90 days begin with confirmed payment and your authorization to start preparation. Each free 30-day extension is requested with one click.
  2. Text: after the materials stage, including any extensions used, the family has 21 days to review the content.
  3. Cover and interior: each final PDF has a separate, version-specific approval. Its 14-day period starts when that PDF is sent. You can still approve later; a delay does not authorize printing or deletion of the files.
  4. Delivery: the period of up to 60 days for the book to reach your address starts only when cover and interior are approved, required authorizations are signed and any payment due is complete. An internal step with no stated deadline cannot defer that starting point.
Link to this answer
How do I request more time to send materials?

After the initial 90 days, you can request two extensions of 30 days each with one click in the project or the email notice. Both are free and require no phone call.

The second is the last extension in that cycle. Sending a photo or audio recording, even on the last day, counts as progress. If both extensions end without progress, the project pauses, materials are kept, and neither printing nor the 60-day delivery period starts.

If a photo or audio recording arrives on the last day of the second extension and the content is still incomplete, the project stays open for manual review. That upload does not create an automatic new deadline.

Link to this answer
If the project pauses, do I lose my materials or payment?

No. If both extensions end without progress, the project pauses. Materials are kept, nothing is printed, and you do not forfeit the amount paid simply because of the delay.

To resume, click in the project or contact Help. A new 90-day cycle begins with the materials already there. A pause is not a change-of-mind cancellation and does not remove your legal rights. The delivery period of up to 60 days starts only after cover and interior approval, signed authorizations and payment of any balance due.

Link to this answer
Can I approve the cover or interior after the 14 days?

Yes. Each PDF has a 14-calendar-day approval period from when it is sent, but you can still approve later. The files are kept, and we do not choose a version for you.

We notify you in the project and by email. Until both approvals, signed authorizations and any payment due are complete, printing does not begin and the delivery period of up to 60 days does not start. Late approval does not delete the book.

Stories and recordings 10

Will you suggest questions for the conversations?

Yes. The initial information helps shape a set of topics that your family can review and add to with questions of your own.

A photograph, a recipe or a memory that comes up naturally can also open a chapter. Use the questions to support a comfortable conversation.

Link to this answer
Can I review the questions before talking with my mother?

Yes. The family reviews the questions before sharing them with the person being interviewed. You can change the wording, remove sensitive topics and rearrange the order.

Choose what fits the story and feels comfortable for that person. Approving the questions does not replace their permission to record or use the answers.

Link to this answer
Can she skip a question?

Yes. Each person chooses what they want to share. They can skip questions, take breaks or leave topics out.

During review, identify any passages that should not appear in the book or audio. A meaningful memory book does not have to cover every event in a person's life.

Link to this answer
Do the memories need to be in chronological order?

No. Start with whichever memory comes to mind and arrange the material later by time period, theme or person.

You review the chapter order in the interior PDF. Before approving it, check that the sequence also makes sense to someone who was not part of the conversations.

Link to this answer
Can I write the answers instead of recording them?

Yes, using the options available in your project. Choose what feels most comfortable: writing gives you time to shape your thoughts, while recording preserves the voice and way of telling the story.

Review any transcript before using it. The text and recording are separate materials, and permission for one use does not automatically cover others.

Link to this answer
Do the conversations happen by phone or WhatsApp?

Participation takes place through the site's tools, with help from family when needed. The service described here does not include automated phone calls, WhatsApp recording or SMS reminders.

Use only the channels confirmed on the site. Do not send recordings to numbers that have not been identified as official contacts.

Link to this answer
How long can each recording be?

Check the limit shown in the recorder or upload area before you begin. That limit is separate from the maximum 30-second excerpts shared through QR codes.

For a long story, record and label separate parts. Keep the original on your device and make sure the upload has finished before closing the page.

Link to this answer
Do we need to schedule an interview every week?

There is no required frequency. For an outline of up to 10 chapters, one chapter a week is simply a suggested pace within the 90-day period and two 30-day extensions.

Agree on a pace that suits the person being interviewed. The number of conversations does not determine the page count. If both extensions end without progress, the project pauses and the materials are kept.

Link to this answer
Can I replace an answer or make a new recording?

During preparation, you can provide a new version and identify the answer or recording it should replace.

Make your choice clear during review. If the change affects an approved file, the new version needs approval. Replacing a recording does not authorize artificial speech attributed to that person.

Link to this answer
How can I make a good recording at home?

Choose a quiet place, keep the microphone close without touching it, and make a short test recording. Listen back to check that the voice is clear and the volume is comfortable.

Ask one question at a time and allow time for the answer. Avoid background music and interruptions; a relaxed conversation usually works better than rushed reading.

Family and gifts 11

How can other relatives take part?

Relatives can contribute authorized memories, photos and recordings through the access provided in the project.

Choose who will coordinate the book and identify who is telling each story. Contributing does not automatically grant access to payments, the organizer's account or every file.

Link to this answer
Can the buyer authorize the use of everyone's materials?

No. Each person keeps their rights to their own voice, image and materials. Paying for the project does not transfer those rights to the buyer.

Permissions must cover each participant and use. Recording a conversation, sharing an excerpt through a QR code and publishing content publicly are separate choices.

Link to this answer
Who manages access and family contributions?

The organizer coordinates the project. Each contributor can use only the materials and features made available to them.

Suspending someone's access does not allow anyone to assume their identity, change their permissions or alter payments. Contact Help if there is a dispute about using a contribution.

Link to this answer
Can one book tell two people's stories?

That format must be agreed before purchase and described in the offer, including participants, structure and any additional cost.

An individual project does not automatically include two complete biographies. When more than one person contributes, identify who tells each passage and obtain everyone's permission.

Link to this answer
Can this project be a gift?

Yes, once purchases become available. You can organize a project as a gift, while respecting the featured person's choice about taking part.

Before purchasing, check what the offer includes, who will receive access and the deadlines. Giving a gift does not authorize recording someone without their knowledge.

Link to this answer
Does the book come with gift packaging or a card?

The standard offer includes the printer's protective packaging. It does not include a gift box, gift voucher or a card automatically sent on a chosen date.

If you would like an extra gift service, confirm that it is available and expressly included in the offer before paying.

Link to this answer
Can I arrange to start at a later date?

Agree on the start date before authorizing preparation. The 90-day period for sending materials begins once payment is confirmed and that authorization is given.

There are two free 30-day extensions, requested with one click, followed by 21 days to review the text. Without progress after both extensions, the project pauses, preserving the materials and the amount paid. The delivery period of up to 60 days begins only after cover and interior approval, signed authorizations and payment of any balance due.

Link to this answer
How can I prepare a surprise tribute?

You can collect messages, photographs and memories you have permission to use and keep the surprise within those boundaries.

A surprise does not replace permission to record or share someone's voice, image and personal information. Avoid secret recordings and choose materials that respect the person's privacy.

Link to this answer
Can I include children's photos and stories?

Yes, with the appropriate care and the permissions required from their legal guardians for each contribution. The account holder and purchaser must be at least 18.

Leave out unnecessary details such as identity documents, school and location. Buying the project does not make you the legal representative of every child in the book.

Link to this answer
Can I create a book in memory of someone who has died?

Yes. The project can bring together authorized photographs, letters, recordings and memories, with its scope agreed before purchase.

Make clear when a relative is sharing their own recollection. We do not present AI-generated text or voices as new, real statements from the person being remembered.

Link to this answer
After my mother’s book, can we make one for a father, for me, or for another loved one?

Yes. This site is for your mother’s book. After the first paid project, the same family may start another book for a father, for the purchaser, or for another loved one.

Each book needs its own permissions. Paying for your mother’s book does not authorize recording a father. The second project is 10% off the base price only (Standard US$116.10; Max or Grand US$143.10).

Photos, editing and AI 13

How do I upload digital photos or scan old photographs?

The preview accepts JPEG, PNG and WebP. For a paper photograph, scan it or take a well-lit picture without glare, and keep the original file.

Check the supported formats and limits in the project's upload area. If you need to convert an image, also keep a good-quality copy of the original.

Link to this answer
How do I know if a photo is good enough to print?

Quality depends on the resolution, the condition of the image and how large it will appear on the page. A photo may look good on screen but show limitations in print.

Send the original rather than a screenshot whenever possible. Check the crop and technical guidance in the final PDF: enlarging an image cannot recover detail missing from the file.

Link to this answer
How many photographs can I include?

Up to 10 chapters. An archive photograph is not required in every chapter. Where there is no photo, the chapter may continue with the account and QR only, or with an approved AI illustration.

Unlimited photos and unlimited illustration generations are not included. Check the image layout and total page count in the interior PDF. Beyond 120 pages, additional 15-page blocks require your approval.

Link to this answer
How do I add names, dates and photo captions?

Provide these details during preparation, then check the spelling and placement of each caption in the final PDF.

If you are unsure of a date, mark it as approximate or leave it out. Names, places and family relationships should come from known information, without filling gaps by guesswork.

Link to this answer
Does the project support videos too?

The offer described in this FAQ covers text, photographs and audio. Video hosting and playback are not part of the standard package.

If you would like to include video, ask about a specific offer before purchasing or sending files. An audio QR code does not automatically include video support.

Link to this answer
How does artificial intelligence help prepare the book?

In the features you choose, AI can help transcribe, organize and draft from the authorized materials your family provides. It can also generate optional illustrations for chapters without a photo, with a limit and approval.

AI can make mistakes, so your family reviews the content before approval. We do not use it to invent events, dialogue or missing details, or to clone a voice. An illustration is not an archive photograph and does not go into the PDF without an approval tap. The book is not an independently verified historical record.

Link to this answer
Who checks names, dates and possible mistakes?

The family checks facts and transcripts during preparation and when reviewing the interior PDF. This includes names, relationships, dates, expressions and events.

Submit corrections clearly. If a memory is uncertain or people remember it differently, the text can say so without presenting uncertainty as a confirmed fact.

Link to this answer
Will the book preserve my mother's way of telling her story?

That is the aim: to preserve the meaning of the memories and the identity of the person telling them. Review lets you check the tone and change wording that does not sound like her.

A word-for-word transcript and an edited narrative have different styles. Agree on the approach before approval, keeping emotions, dialogue and facts grounded in the original material.

Link to this answer
Does the price include a translation of the book?

A translation is included only when it is expressly listed in your project offer. A site in three languages does not mean every order includes three editions of the book.

Review expressions, names and cultural details in each edition you purchase. An automatic translation still needs review before it can be approved as final text.

Link to this answer
Will my family's voices be cloned or recreated?

Buying the book does not authorize voice cloning or new artificial speech attributed to your family. Family excerpts come from authorized original recordings.

The site's presentation voice is separate from your family's memories. Any optional artificial-voice feature must be clearly identified and have its own permissions.

Link to this answer
What if we have no photograph for a chapter?

The chapter can exist with the account only (and the QR, if there is a recording). If you want an image, you may request an AI illustration, with a limit and approval.

It is not an archive photograph. Without an approval tap, it does not go into the PDF.

Link to this answer
How many AI illustrations are included?

15 generations are included. Each attempt counts, even if you decline the image.

A real family photo does not use this limit. A technical failure does not count. This meter is separate from the transcription and text budget (US$5 per book).

Link to this answer
Will the illustration look like an old family photograph?

It must not be presented as an archive photo. It carries a caption: AI illustration, approved by you.

We do not make a realistic portrait of someone without a reference photo and permission. We do not clone voices. We do not train the model on family photos.

Your book 10

What do I receive with a printed book?

The package includes preparation of the edition, one printed copy of up to 120 pages, the final PDF and two years of QR audio access starting on the book's actual delivery date.

Extra pages, additional copies, the audio extension, shipping, taxes and import charges are separate costs, depending on the order. The customer pays applicable import costs, duties and fees, disclosed before purchase. The book comes in protective packaging, without a gift box.

Link to this answer
What are the book formats and base prices?

Standard: 6 × 9 inches, US$129. Max: 8.5 × 8.5 inches, US$159. Grand: 8.5 × 11 inches, US$159. Standard is selected by default.

Each base price includes one copy of up to 120 pages. Before paying, check the available combinations for your chosen format and all additional charges in the order summary.

Link to this answer
Which font sizes are available for the book?

You can choose 10, 11, 12, 14, 16 or 18 points. The default size is 14 points.

Check a PDF page at actual size. Larger type may increase the page count and require extra page blocks. We do not reduce your chosen size without your permission.

Link to this answer
How do I choose a comfortable reading size?

The default of 14 points is a starting point for comfortable reading. You can increase it to 16 or 18 points or choose one of the smaller available sizes.

Comfort also depends on the typeface, spacing, contrast and book format. Compare a page at actual size before deciding; no single size works equally well for everyone.

Link to this answer
Which cover finishes are available?

The configuration offers a color hardcover with the image printed on the case, in matte or glossy finish, depending on the combinations available in the offer.

The standard offer does not include a linen wrap. Check the title, image, crops and spine in the final cover PDF before approving it.

Link to this answer
How do I choose the paper and interior printing?

The configuration provides 80# coated white paper and Premium Color or Premium Black & White interior printing, depending on the technical combinations available in the offer.

The cover is in color with either option. Check the order summary and PDF to confirm whether the interior will be color or black and white; it must match the printing you purchase.

Link to this answer
Can I choose the title, cover and dedication?

Yes. These are set during preparation using text and images you have permission to use.

Check spelling, placement, cropping and readability in the final PDFs. Changing the format or page count can affect the spine and require a new cover approval.

Link to this answer
Does my book need to have exactly 120 pages?

No. The base price includes up to 120 pages; you do not have to fill all of them. Pages beyond 120 require extra blocks that you approve.

The minimum and maximum page counts depend on the print configuration and must be stated in the offer. The limit of 200 refers to extra copies, not pages.

Link to this answer
Can my photo layout or font size change the final price?

Yes, if the layout takes the book beyond 120 pages. Any additional page blocks and their prices will be presented for your approval.

You can review the selection and arrangement of the content before deciding. We do not reduce your chosen font size or add blank pages to change the price without your agreement.

Link to this answer
Is the PDF included when I buy a printed book?

Yes. The final PDF is part of the print package, so you do not need to buy the separate US$29 digital edition as well.

Keep a copy in a safe place. The final file is different from the working preview; audio reached through QR codes is not necessarily embedded in the PDF.

Link to this answer

Prices and payment 12

How much do additional page blocks cost?

Each started block of 15 pages costs US$15 for Standard or US$20 for Max and Grand, starting at page 121.

You will see the actual page count and block cost before accepting. Additional blocks are never purchased automatically.

Link to this answer
How do I work out how many extra page blocks I need?

Up to 120 pages: none. From 121 to 135 pages: one block. From 136 to 150 pages: two blocks. Each new block started covers up to 15 additional pages.

For example, a 136-page book adds US$30 in page blocks for Standard or US$40 for Max and Grand. These are page-block charges only; other extras, shipping and taxes are separate.

Link to this answer
How many extra copies can I add to an order?

You can add zero to 200 extra copies on top of the copy included in the base package, for a total of up to 201 books.

Extra copies have the same format, interior and cover as the main edition. Ask the team for a specific quote for larger quantities.

Link to this answer
How do quantity discounts work?

Discounts apply only to extra copies: one extra copy, no discount; two, 5%; three, 10%; four, 15%; five to 200, 20%.

The base package, page blocks, audio, shipping and taxes do not receive this discount. Check the extra-copy quantity and discount in your order summary.

Link to this answer
Where can I find the extra-copy price? Can I order more later?

The price per extra copy appears in the quote for your chosen edition. It is separate from the full package price.

A later reprint requires a new quote, available files and authorization for the requested quantity. Prices are not locked in forever, and relatives can order independently only if that option is available.

Link to this answer
How is the US$29 digital edition different from the US$19 audio extension?

The US$29 digital edition is a standalone product: it includes the PDF, downloads of the original photos and recordings available in the project, and five years of QR audio. It does not include a printed copy.

The initial US$19 extension is an add-on for a printed book. It replaces the basic two years with five years, starting at the first valid final approval of both cover and interior, with payment confirmed. It is not seven years or a second PDF purchase. The same starting point applies to the digital edition's five years.

Link to this answer
If I buy digital first, do I get credit toward a printed book?

The digital edition's price is not credited toward a printed book. They are separate purchases.

If you want a printed edition later, review a new offer. Having the digital files does not mean that printing, any additional preparation or shipping has already been paid for.

Link to this answer
Does the final payment account for what I have already paid?

Yes. The final bill accounts for earlier payments and charges only the balance of items you expressly accepted.

A package or page block already paid for must not be charged again. Before confirming, check previous payments, extras, shipping, taxes and the remaining balance in the summary.

Link to this answer
What costs may be added to the base price?

Depending on your choices and destination, there may be page blocks, extra copies, the audio extension, shipping, taxes and import charges.

Before payment, the offer must distinguish checkout charges from import costs, duties and fees payable by the customer to authorities or carriers. An incomplete estimate does not authorize charges that have not been presented. Your responsibility does not include costs caused by our errors and does not remove your legal rights.

Link to this answer
What currency are the prices in, and how can I pay?

Prices in this FAQ are in U.S. dollars. Before confirming a purchase, you will see the billing currency and available payment methods.

Your bank may apply currency conversion and its own fees. Pix, installments or prices in Brazilian reais are available only if shown among the payment options.

Link to this answer
How does the 10% off a second book work?

It is 10% off the second project’s base price for the same purchaser: Standard US$116.10; Max or Grand US$143.10.

Only after the first book’s payment is confirmed. It does not apply to reprints, Volume 2 of the same mother’s book, page blocks, extra copies, shipping, tax, audio, or extra illustration generations. It does not stack with the extra-copy discount.

Link to this answer
What if we use up the 15 generations?

You may buy up to two extra packs of 8 generations, US$5 each, paid before generating. The book maximum is 31. After that, the chapter continues in text only.

We warn you when 5 and then 2 included generations remain. We do not generate on credit. The second-book 10% does not cover these packs.

Link to this answer

Approval and delivery 10

How do I review and approve the book before printing?

You receive two final PDFs, each identified by version: the cover and the interior. Each file has its own approval and a 14-calendar-day review period starting when that PDF is sent.

Check names, text, page order, photographs, crops, font size and spine. The early preview does not replace these approvals. Printing requires both PDFs approved, signed authorizations and payment of any amount due.

Link to this answer
What if I need a correction after approval?

Contact us immediately. Before production, changed files need a new approval; changes that affect the price also require a new quote.

Changes to the format or page count may require a revised cover. Once printing has started, it may not be possible to stop it. Your rights concerning defects or differences from the approved version still apply.

Link to this answer
What must be completed before printing begins?

You must approve the final cover and interior separately, sign the required authorizations and pay any amount due. The files also undergo a technical production check.

Once approvals, authorizations and payment are complete, the delivery period of up to 60 calendar days begins. An internal check with no stated deadline cannot defer that starting point. A preview, saved cart or permission to prepare content does not replace approval to print the edition and quantity ordered.

Link to this answer
Will the colors and size match what I see on screen?

The printed content must match the approved version. Colors, brightness and perceived size can look different on screen and on paper.

View the PDF at actual size and follow the image and margin guidance. Normal print variation does not excuse delivering different content or failing to address a defect.

Link to this answer
How long will it take for the book to reach my address?

Delivery takes up to 60 calendar days to the address on the order. The period starts once both cover and interior are approved, the required authorizations are signed and any payment due has been made.

This means the book's arrival, not just dispatch, and is separate from the family's time to prepare the stories. An internal step with no stated deadline cannot defer the start. If a delay becomes likely, we will explain the situation and available remedies, preserving your rights; printing, transport and customs do not remove our responsibility to fulfill the offer.

Link to this answer
How do I confirm whether you can deliver to my address?

Enter the address for a quote and check availability for your chosen format. Eligible destinations in Brazil and the United States are planned.

Before purchasing a printed book, confirm that the destination is supported and review shipping costs, delivery time and transport conditions.

Link to this answer
How are shipping and packaging handled?

Standard shipping is quoted separately according to the order and destination. The book comes in the printer's normal protective packaging.

The package does not include free shipping or a gift box. Paying the shipping charge does not mean import charges have been paid. Available shipping information accompanies the order confirmation and progress updates.

Link to this answer
Who pays import taxes, duties and fees?

The customer pays all import costs, taxes, duties and fees applicable to the order. These are not included in the base price and may apply to deliveries to Brazil or other destinations involving import.

Before purchase, the offer must distinguish checkout charges from amounts authorities or carriers may collect. A shipping quote does not confirm that all import charges are paid. We do not use blanket tax rates, and this rule does not shift costs or penalties caused by our errors onto you or remove your legal rights.

Link to this answer
Can I send the copies to several addresses?

Shipping to multiple addresses requires a quote listing each destination, the number of books and the corresponding shipping charge.

Buying extra copies does not automatically include separate deliveries to relatives. Confirm availability and costs before paying.

Link to this answer
How do I report a late, damaged or incorrect book?

Contact Help with your order details and, if possible, photographs of the problem. We will investigate and explain the appropriate remedy while preserving your rights.

If we cannot meet the arrival deadline of up to 60 days, we will notify you and provide the options required by applicable law, which may include agreeing to a revised date or canceling for a refund. The printer, carrier or customs do not remove that responsibility. Keep the book and packaging while they may help establish what happened.

Audio and QR codes 10

How do I listen to audio through the QR codes?

Open a compatible phone camera, scan the QR code and follow the link to hear the authorized excerpt while the audio remains available during your access period.

You need an internet connection. The printed code links to an online file; the recording is not stored in the paper.

Link to this answer
Does the book's audio use the person's real voice?

Yes, when you select an authorized original recording for that use. The family excerpt must come from that recording.

Listen before approving its inclusion. The site's presentation narration is separate and does not replace your relative's voice or an actual family memory.

Link to this answer
How much of the conversation is available through a QR code?

The book uses selected, approved excerpts of up to 30 seconds alongside the memories on its pages.

The QR excerpt and the complete original conversation are separate files. Check exactly what will be shared and keep the original recordings made available in your project.

Link to this answer
Is QR audio access restricted to family members?

Anyone with a valid QR code or link may be able to listen, including someone who has a photograph of the page containing the code.

Choose only excerpts authorized for this kind of access. The QR code itself does not require the listener to be an identified family member; keep that in mind when sharing the book or photographs of its pages.

Link to this answer
How many years of online audio access are included?

A printed book without the extension includes two years from actual delivery. The US$29 digital edition and a printed book with the initial US$19 extension include five years from the first valid final approval, with payment confirmed.

That approval requires the cover and interior to be approved separately. After expiry, there is a 30-day listening grace period and a 90-day file export window. Both start on the same expiry date.

What date starts the five-year access period?

The first valid final approval of both cover and interior, approved separately, with payment confirmed. This applies to both the digital edition and the printed book's audio extension.

The term uses calendar years. Approving a new version does not restart it; a February 29 anniversary falls on February 28 in a non-leap year. For a printed book without the extension, the basic two years start on actual delivery.

Does the audio extension add five years to the two included?

No. The initial US$19 extension replaces the basic two years with five years. It does not provide seven years of access.

The five years start at the first valid final approval of both cover and interior, with payment confirmed. Check the start and end dates before purchasing.

What is included in the US$29 digital edition?

It includes the final PDF, downloads of the original photographs and recordings available in the project, and five years of QR audio access. It does not include a printed book.

Keep the downloaded files. Online audio has its own access period: the five years start at the first valid final approval of both cover and interior, with payment confirmed.

Can I use the book and audio offline?

You can read the downloaded PDF and play downloaded recordings on a compatible device without internet access.

Listening through a QR code requires a connection and an available link. Download the files during the permitted period to keep your own copies for offline use.

Does a QR code keep the audio online forever?

No. Online access follows the purchased term and the renewal and export conditions.

Your family can keep the printed book and the files you download. Store copies safely and respect the permissions of people featured in photographs and recordings.

Renewal and files 10

Do I have to accept automatic renewal?

No. Automatic renewal is optional and unchecked by default. Activating it requires your specific authorization after you see the price, term, dates or start conditions, and how to cancel.

Buying the book, accepting general terms or saving a cart does not authorize recurring charges. You can also choose to renew manually.

How is each renewal price calculated?

Each five-year renewal costs 20% more than the previous period, rounded to the nearest cent. Digital: US$29 → US$34.80 → US$41.76. Print audio extension: US$19 → US$22.80 → US$27.36.

Before the charge, you will see the next cycle's price, applicable taxes and the new period's end date.

Can I renew after the printed book's basic two years?

Yes. The first optional five-year renewal costs US$22.80 and requires your express agreement to purchase it.

Buying the basic package does not authorize this charge automatically. Later renewals increase by 20% over the previous period's price.

How do I cancel future automatic renewals?

Use the cancellation option provided when you enrolled or in your account, or ask through Help. If you enrolled online, we do not require a phone call to cancel.

Cancellation stops future charges, keeps access for the period already paid and does not delete the project. A request received before a charge must be honored even if our response is delayed.

How long can I access the files if I do not renew?

After expiry, you have a 30-day grace period to listen to audio and a 90-day window to export files.

Both periods start on the same expiry date and run at the same time; they do not add up to 120 days. After 90 days, access and archive availability may end. Copies you have downloaded remain yours to keep.

Does a late renewal start on the payment date?

No. When continuing the contract, the five years are added to the previous expiry date, even if you pay during the grace period.

Check the new end date before paying. If the export window has closed, file availability must be checked first. Renewal cannot restore removed files, and you must not be charged for an unavailable archive.

Will a failed payment delete my files?

No. A failed renewal payment does not trigger immediate deletion. The 30-day audio grace period and 90-day export window still apply from expiry.

With valid authorization, there may be up to eight payment attempts in 14 days. A completed payment must not be charged again, and withdrawing authorization stops further attempts.

When will I receive audio-expiry reminders?

Reminders are scheduled for 90, 30 and 7 days before expiry, with the date, price and cancellation instructions, plus any additional notices required by applicable law.

Keep your project contact details up to date and save your enrollment confirmation. Receiving a reminder does not authorize a charge you have not agreed to.

How do I keep a complete copy of what I received?

Download and keep the final PDF and the original photographs and recordings made available in the project. Keep your own source files too.

A preview export may use smaller images and does not replace the originals. Open the downloaded files to check that they work, and keep more than one copy in locations you control.

How can I preserve the memories if the service closes?

Keep your own copies of the PDF and original files while they are available to download. Hosting and working links are not guaranteed forever.

If a closure or change materially affects access, it must be communicated along with the appropriate export arrangements and your corresponding rights.

Do I keep the rights to the stories and files?

Yes. You and the other rights holders retain your rights. The company receives only the permissions needed for the uses you purchase and authorize.

Those permissions cover the agreed preparation, delivery, printing and hosting, including the necessary service providers. They do not transfer ownership of the materials.

Does buying the project authorize publishing my stories or training AI?

No. Purchase does not authorize advertising, a public portfolio, social media posts, general AI model training or voice cloning.

Any additional use needs its own basis and specific authorization where required. The processing needed to produce the book must be explained in the Privacy Policy and does not permit unrestricted disclosure of family materials.

How do I authorize recording and use of a voice?

The person must know they will be recorded and understand the intended uses. Recording, transcription, editing and sharing an excerpt through a QR code must be covered by the relevant permissions.

A buyer's general authorization does not replace the participant's choice. Each person can contact support to request information, corrections or removal of their own materials.

Is having a family photo enough to use it in the book?

Not always. Having a copy or appearing in the photograph does not mean you have every right needed to reproduce it.

Check permissions from the photographer or rights holder and from the people pictured where required. Disclose any usage restrictions and take particular care with photographs of minors or disputed materials.

How do I request deletion of data or a recording?

Contact Help, identify the material if possible and explain what you want deleted. We may verify your identity or authority to make the request in a proportionate way.

The reply will explain the steps, effects on access and any retention required by law. Delivered books and copies downloaded by others cannot be erased remotely. The support response time is not a promise of complete deletion within 48 hours.

When can I cancel and receive a refund?

Before authorized paid preparation begins, you can cancel and request a refund for the unstarted project. After it begins, the commercial policy does not offer change-of-mind cancellation, while preserving your legal rights.

In Brazil, these include the seven-day cooling-off right, counted from contracting or receipt as applicable. Personalizing the book or authorizing work to begin does not automatically waive that right. Defects, incorrect charges and failure to fulfill the offer have their own remedies.

Does final approval change my rights concerning defects or refunds?

Approving the PDF does not remove your rights concerning defects, incorrect charges or delivery that differs from the approved version.

When a refund is due, we cannot force store credit as a substitute. Support will explain the steps and timing, distinguishing the refund request from the bank's processing time.

What should I do if I lose access to my project or draft?

Check the account, browser and device you used for the project. If the problem continues, contact Help with your order details, if you have them.

A draft saved only in the browser may be unrecoverable after its data is cleared. Keep any export and original files you have; you do not need to share your password to receive help.
